Archive ServerArchive Server provides seamless access to text, pictures, pages and multi media content from a single web browser client. The robust free text engine is language independent, and designed to provide rapid responses from large archives. It is equally suited to use in-house, or as a public internet based archive. The Flow Server browser based client fully integrates Archive Server content, which simply appears as a read only basket in the editorial workflow. There is also a dedicated browser client for archive management, and of course Asset Archive can be easily integrated into and web site for internet or intranet use. The Archive Server search engine is very intuitive to use. As well as full free text searching, it provides precise phrase searching, date searching and supports Boolean logic operators. Standard and Advanced search modes cater for users of differing skill levels. The key strength of Asset Archive server is the way in which articles, pictures, pages and multi media content are stored and presented in a unified way, maintaining the relationship between them. Thus articles are linked to the pictures used with them, and to the pages on which they appeared. Editions can also be browsed as e-editions. Asset Archive Server supports legals management, allowing the marking of any article or picture with legal advisory text, or disabling the record completely. Acquisition of content is automatic either from Flow Server or through a server based service which polls drop folders for new content. A Workflow Wizard is used to configure the acquisition parameters, giving extensive control over text import formats, content validation, picture processing settings, and automatic creation of indexing data from file names. Content can be dispatched automatically form Archive Server to third party syndication partners using a “smart content” filter to send automatically only specific content (i.e. that for which you own the copyright). The systems architecture of Archive Server is very robust. It uses Asset PT infrastructure, making it ideal for distributed archives. Queries can be made to any number of archives across a WAN and the results presented to the user as one unified search. As with all free text indexing systems, index updates are the most likely point of failure. To ensure no system downtime, Archive Server maintains two copies of the index, one of which is available for searching and the other for updating. If an update fails, users continue to have uninterrupted access to the archive. Email alerts notify the systems administrator, and the archive will not accept any further content until the failure is rectified. Last Updated: Thursday 01 March 2007 - 16:48 |
